Because of the capacity issue, everything is affected, throttling isn't getting a chance

Probably mentioned before, but it's said in the usage policy that VOIP would not be affected. I feel ripped off even more now.

I'm guessing the feeling is mutual for all those on connect though.

Well at 9.28pm this evening i finally snapped and emailed Watchdog. I very much doubt the Sky Connect story stands much of a chance up against people complaining about the weather or my neighbours suing Durex because the cucumber they rolled the condom on to didn't stop her from giving birth to quads 9 months later.....but it was worth a try. Perhaps a load of disgruntled customers emailing watchdog may alert the producers to a possible story?

At these terrible speeds thank God i don't watch porn, it would be 2 years before anyone got undressed and by then i would have lost interest anyway.

i doubt it, but you never know...

your best bet is to leave to an ISP that has capacity as Sky aren't going to up it any time soon (not that i know, anyway)...

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

This is logically happening as you can see Sky is not the only ISP it is happening
to who is to say you move to another ISP and there for 2 to 3 months and it starts do you sit and wait or jump that only you can decide
      Steve

IAmNotTheEnemy Sky can't just increase capacity as it'll lead to a price increase(
That's fundamentally the root of the issue, however in talking to an industry insider, the circumstances aren't quite that straightforward.
It would appear that Sky (and other ISPs) are caught up in the transition to 21cn IPstream. Money they spend now adding to the current infrastructure could be largely wasted.
No consolation to those affected though.

Find an ISP that doesn't tie you to a 12 month contract

Aready looking at Be. For less than the price I'm paying for Sky Connect, I can get 24Mb LLU instead and only 3 month contracts.

The only reason I signed up to Sky in the first place is our new flat needed telephone, tv and broadband, and now the contract is due for renewal... bye bye Sky broadband

I probably did not explain after 2 to 3 months you could be have same problems
as you are having at Sky.
You are right though contract for three months not
twelve months then if there is problems you have not got a ball and chain around
your ankle anyway hope your speed increases

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

Limiting bandwidth I can understand, but blocking ports is just ridiculous. It's fair enough to block ports used for P2P, but when you cannot even check your own emails or use other ports/protocols that would not put any strain on bandwidth, then whoever makes these decisions need to be re-educated. Until they make changes in the immediate future then I'm jumping ship at the first chance

I work for a major Telecoms company, and know how things work behind the scenes. Hell, I wouldn't even recommend my own company to anyone... LOL! (no it's not Sky, although Sky is one of our clients/customer!). Be has been recommended by a friend, heard nothing but good things. Lets see how things pans out for now.

Sky don't block ports, I use my own domain email and FTP on a regular basis and it always works...

Getting MAC but got warned that as im inside 12 month contract they "may" make charges to cover "reasonable costs". Do they usually pursue people still inside the contract? Been with them about 8 of the 12 months.
