I''m pretty confident if you had access to the records you would find that the amount of people on a discount like myself is a tiny percentage of those two million Connect customers

This thread is for those on Connect, not Sky LLU.

If you still feel you're being affected by the recent exchange upgrade issues, then continue on your thread.

      Broadband package: Sky Connect
Normal Speed: 8MB (advertised), 5mb-6mb (between the hours of 3am-4pm)
Current throttled speed: 64kbps (so far thats at best!!)
Average usage per day: A lot
What does this throttling affect? Gaming (xbox), Browsing (interneopt on my laptop and the mrs lapt), Streaming (youtube) etc

This has become the norm, from 4pm in the afternoon until 3am in the morning, my connection gets throttled (I have deliberately stayed awake to try to determine when the connection gets back to normal and on average over a week it is roughly 3am).

I shall be writing to OFCOM as this is a serious breach of the terms and conditions (at most the terms and conditions state that a 10-30% drop is expected, not a 95% drop on a regular and consistent basis).

When phoning sky I was essentially told to put up with it and leave at the end of my contract (I am 3 months in so this has royally annoyed me), no chance of an engineer visit, no chance of speed de-throttling.

Sky Unlimited was available in my area but now I want to upgrade to it, it is miraculously not available any more! I am starting to get frustrated and wonder why I moved to sky!

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

Sky BB Connect is sold with a monthly usage figure of 40Gb for both download & upload.

This is averaged out to 1.3Gb per day.

If you exceed the daily limit then you get throttled.

Since neither BT or Sky admit to doing the throttling, I personally would guess that both are doing it.

Since you obviously are exceeding the daily limit: Change

Ofcom will log the complaint, but Sky needs to invest in the Connect package.

Other ISPs are not the same.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

There are over 1800 posts in this thread alone, with probably as many again scattered through the various Connect threads. At least half of these posts have the same complaint as you. Do you think writing to Ofcom will have any effect, I don't think so. Do what others in your position have done and leave. Over the next week or so do speed tests at the official BT site, keeping a record of your results. At the end of this period call Sky and ask for your MAC, do not even mention cancelling at this point. When you are fixed up with another ISP call Sky and tell them you are leaving as the service they are supplying is not fit for purpose and tell them you have a record of speed tests to prove this. It does not matter how much you are using, you will still be throttled at peak times.

The Official BT Tester is the only one which is recognised by Sky, you will find it here-
      Test Result.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

You guys are travelling at warp speed compared to the 162 Kbps download speed I have today (after the engineer fixed it because there was no internet at all for the last few days). Average upload and download speeds have been about 350 Kbps for the last couple of years on Sky Connect and more lately Unlimited. I know of monks who can write faster using feather quills.
Could not even access email for a few days. Still, always time to go for another cup of coffee between page refreshes.

Feel welcome to start a new thread if you would like members to help you get more from a new connection.

Post your router's connection stats and perhaps there may be something available to get more from your connection.

The short answer is that Sky are responsible for all of the Connect traffic management, including throttling for excessive usage. I'm pretty sure they will never do anything to improve it, so yes, the best thing to do would be to leave.
