Sky have informed me that I was being capped .

      Speed at 19:00

For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
      Additional Information:
      Your DSL Connection Rate :7200 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)

That's the fastest I've had at this time on a weekday.

Hi if you were or are being capped. The cap would affect you 24/7 not Just late afternoon till Midnight and all weekends. I have heard that excuse before it was the most common excuse. Have you had a look at (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users which is a follow on from this thread.

It looks like they don't know the difference between being capped and being throttled. You will not be capped on Connect, only throttled at peak times.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

      # Broadband package: Sky Connect
      # Normal Speed: 8mb - Download Speed 2000kbps
      # Current throttled speed: 50 - 100kbps
      # Average usage per day: Constant Usage
      # What does this throttling affect? Everything can't even watch low resolution youtube videos, sometimes my MSN Messenger program can't even stay connected because of It.

i know i might be being capped for my usage but at least cap me to 500kbps so i can still actually use the internet, it is like i am on 56k dial up or something.

      Usually Starts Around 5 - 6 PM

      Thanks

Thats because you have now done it after midnight so not as much throttling as you are outside of peak hours, try again at 6pm to see it reappear.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

      Hi guys/gals/friendly neighbourhood spiderfolk.

I'm a heavy gamer (12+ hour stints of gaming arent uncommon), and with the Sky Failnet's stupid throttling enforcement rules, means that I am limited to *sub* dial-up speeds between 5-12, which invokes that I am completely unable to have fun with my friends online.

It also adversely effects the way I keep up with my friends via MSN/Facebook (regular time outs and disconnects) since I have had to leave them all in the North East.

This speed test thing will probably not run during the evening, as my speed goes down to 24kbps or less, but below are the speeds i'm currently getting. I'm trying to convince my parents that this is Sky's doing and that switching provider is the answer, but its like fighting a waterfall with a spatula. ("its not skys fault, it happens to everyone, and the penalties will be hideous")

Download speedachieved during the test was - 3206 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
      Additional Information:
      Your DSL Connection Rate :4992 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3500 Kbps

Tell your parents to have a read of this thread and they will soon change their minds. The Connect product is so bad that Sky will allow you to move without penalty, rather than suffer the adverse publicity a refusal could bring.
