or connect I think you will find you are on sky max you will find a thread about sky max
Wise words sir, but I honestly don't know which I'm on.
As this problem only affects Connect it's logical to assume I have that.

Broadband package: Sky Connect? Not that sure.
      Normal Speed: 6-6.8Mb
      Current throttled speed: 0.001Mb-0.005Mb (1-5KBps)
Average usage per day: Extreme downloading, hundreds of gb a month
What does this throttling affect? Downloads, site loading. But not xboxlive strangely.

Well I hope it helps to hear an example of someone who hammers their connection. But I see even those of you who don't use theirs much getting some pretty awful throttling.

Currently looking into alternatives but in my village there aren't many.
post your connection stats - if your upstream is 448kbps you're on Connect...

it's probably people like you that have pushed Sky to enforce their FUP policy and start traffic shaping - why sign up for a service knowing you're going to exceed the usage limits? hardly fair on the rest of us...

      Broadband package: Sky Connect
      Connected Speed: 7744
      Normal Speed: 5.5mb
      Current throttled speed: 1mb
BT Speed Tester at 8:15pm: 758k
BT Speed Tester at 10:15pm: 975k
Average usage per day: around 1-2gb per week unless something worth downloading appears (Windows 7 beta)
      What does this throttling affect?

Gaming UK COD4 Servers 150ms Ping (lag also appears)
      Torrents 10k if am lucky
      Xbox drops out

Sky have stated that am not throttled and i have no line errors, iv been threw tier 1 and tier 3 and i am now in que for a call from escalations to resolve the issue (which they probably wont)

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

you'll be traffic shaped, everyone gets this, it's the throttling on top of this which isn't working correctly...can't see what escalations can do unless they fix everyone...

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

I have just spoken to a guy in escalations (so far spent 4 weeks and about 20+ hours on the phone) who has told me there is nothing that can or will be done and advised me to change providers. I have been told I live too far from the exchange and need to move...that I am uploading 4gb a day (I play Wow and look at utube). I have now requested my mac code as I havent a clue what else to do.

PS I have had a phone call from BT call centre where I was categorically told I would not get throttled with BT...

Not true I'm afraid - or maybe the agent was playing semantics. i.e. they don't throttle, they traffic shape (very hard, all protocols, LOL).

Doesn't VM throttle and traffic shape?

But they are all so desparete for new sign ups they will say almost anything to get you in.
