Great. Not much hope there then !

When I said "proper", my idea of a "proper" broadband package is one that's actually usable. Sorry if that was unclear (or inappropriate, in your own glowing, wonderful, Sky experience )

Not to be an a$$ but he did actually ask "do Sky actually have a proper, usable Broadband service I can persuade him to move to" which they don't

Copied from my post in another thread: If you want advice i will say ADSL24, i have been with them since april, not 1 problem, and they recently announced that they will be supplying a 50gig package for 19.99 (not confirmed yet) with no traffic managment etc.. 1 month contract also, so if you dont like them you can quit!

Strangely enough just signed with ADSL24 today, at present its 30gb package for 19.

PS Steve the text you quoted from sky is total ********, it does effect streaming, VOIP and just about everything else.

Don't you realise Steve knows that? He probably knows as much about Connects shortcomings as anybody.

If you check ADSL24 forums youll know that they are gonna start offering packages on the O-Bit Network, and its rumoured 19.99 for 50gig

After moving house I made the mistake of staying with Sky as the Mid package I had previously was excellent. Unfortunately the Connect service is as good as not having broadband. At the time of getting Connect there were no LLU services in my exchange.

Even as a light user whose monthly downloading has not even tickled the maximum available, my speed has dropped from around 5M to 0.25M in the evenings over the last few months. After hours on the phone and being told it was traffic, Sky are sending a new router, however as the speed rises to around 3M on Sunday mornings, I do not believe my router is faulty. I have been through all the usual hoops with master sockets etc and nothing works. The router actully shows a downstream connection speed of around 7500k, however this is merely a mythical figure never to flow through a BT/connect cable.

I have decided to try and move ISP's even though I am still contracted to Sky as clearly at 0.25M they are not even remotely providing a service fit for purpose. A search on Samknows has shown that AOL and TalkTalk have moved into my (Tranent) exchange. These are the only LLU's available.

Unfortunately I never seem to read many positive comments on either these ISP's. Can anyone recommend which one would be best? I am after 8M and want to be able to download at closer to these speeds during peak times.

My gut feeling is AOL may be a better choice than TalkTalk, however would appreciate comments from anyone with experience of both?

      Thanks for reading.

Well time for an update, new router arrived and what a difference! Speed improved by a margin of about 0%.

Phoned Sky and told them to ram the 12 month contract as they are not providing what I am paying for. Got a MAC code and signed up for TalkTalk who are a recently added LLU in my exchange. Feel I may be jumping from the fire to the frying pan however at least its cheaper! 30 days trial period as well so I will be testing every aspect. Time will tell as it goes live in about 2 weeks time.

Fingers crossed though, even a solid 2MB would allow me to get back to Call of Duty, streaming music from Napster to my Sonos, Iplayer, youtube etc. It would like being in 2009 again rather than the late 90s speed delivered by Sky Connect.

17.99 a month for 0.25MB??? 40GB limit, dont make me laugh, its a personal challenge to download 4GB through their bottle neck choked network each month.

Sky Connect - yes they do, however very very slowly.
