      Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

      Broadband package: Sky Connect
      Normal Speed: 6mb
      Current throttled speed: 6mb
      Average usage per day: 4gb this week but that was a catch up
      What does this throttling affect? Browsing, Downloading.

      The throttling i notice is i get kicked off of WoW in any battlegrounds and instances 5/10/25 man ones

      Counterstrike source also has 120ping constant and 20 packet loss (using ingame netgraph which is very accurate)

      I did this download wednesday morning and left it on during the day and it has been the only major download since the christmas.

      Thus raiding and pvp is out of the question in wow and i cant play css either

      I had a similar problem a while ago and had the cst tell me to do any downlaods away from peak time, it seems when i do so i still get bad performancce even when speedtest results are fine and ventrilo there is no lag on it and it doesnt disconnect when WoW does

      Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

      hi all im new to sky user
      i was using my dads sky mid for ps3 since july with no probs. until december when they phoned him and said they were changing his broadband from mid to connect because his line was no longer capable of the speed ....hm dubious ....since which i am unable to use my ps3 and even browsing can be rediculously slow even outside of peak times.my best speed is 2mbps and it sometimes goes so low that speed tests wont work. im disgusted with sky. we all need to speak to ofcom and anyone else who can help. its obvious sky are selling a product which they cannot supply and should be punished for it.

      ^ better to start your own thread as although the throttling will be affecting you there might be other factors...

      What does this throttling affect? Browsing, Gaming (PS3 and Xbox Live)

      Connection speed drops dramatically between 6pm and 11pm. Would say my family are high users. I use my Mac for general browsing, occasional iTunes purchases, Youtubing and playing PS3 network. My brother is the same maybe steams more videos than me but uses Xbox live most of the week.

      I spoke to a man today from sky saying I'd downloaded 3.2gb of data over the last 24 hours understandable as both my Mac and brothers Vista PC needed system updates. He also told me the slow speeds happen because of BT's fair use policy and they throttle your connection if you exceed 1.5gb a day.

      Getting very fed up. Switched from BT to Sky because TV, phone and BB is fractionally more than what I was paying before for just BB and phone from BT. Lets hope it gets resolved soon. My contract doesn't run out till November so I'm tied till then.
      I use very little bandwidth daily but I am as affected as you have been. Come 6pm the switch is thrown and a diabolical service ensues. Like yourself, I hope it gets resolved soon!

      Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

      ofcom recommend a written letter to sky and their rules regarding speed are voluntary which seems quite lame . it seems fine to rip off thousands of brits but please dont insult classic comedy figures on the radio. i hate this corrupt stinking country ... DIE.

      Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

      * Broadband package: Sky Connect
      * Normal Speed: Around 5
      * Current throttled speed: 1.2mb (Earlier)
      * Average usage per day: A little through the day, Most of the evening
      * What does this throttling affect? Gaming on WoW especially, Download speeds aswell

      Has Sky Connect always been this bad at peak times? Only recently connected last October and its been mostly trouble ever since, just the run of odd days where the problem suddenly disappears and then will come back with a vengence.

      That is comical it is happening to all connect Customers Sky BB will be reading this thread It is just a matter of how long it takes them to solve their issues. Offcom and Ottello. Names have been mentioned I hope Sky realise they do not now have a problem they have an issue. Anyway Sky knows the answer they just have to put it to practice.
