      Hi have you seen this
Broadband Connect customers can get on certain applications which we consider use up a lot of bandwidth (for example peer-to-peer and newsgroups) and which have a negative affect on other To ensure we provide a sustainable quality broadband service to our customers, we continuously monitor and efficiently manage the Sky Network as a whole. To do this, during peak times (from 5pm to 12am each day), we may slow down the speed that all Sky customers There are no restrictions in place for applications such as browsing, email, streaming, instant messaging and VOIP during peak times. OK explain this one?? I got my own website with some MP3's on and if I try to download one of those it's OK ie downloading at 120kb/sec but if I try and view anything on Youtube the video will start to stutter and re-buffer after 4secs.

This to me doesn't sound like capping??

Hi at the moment it does not matter what connect Customer do from 5pm till midnight they are being traffic managed and some are throttled But I would do what Tom say`s about your exchange it worked for paulo de muchi so you keep trying and get on LLU that the only way at least you have a chance good luck

14:05 09/05/09 Bt test afternoon does not happen day time it does weekends I think Sky should add that to their T & C before connect Customers can say anything oh sorry already have

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

I will contact Sky first thing in the morning, and follow it up with the letter and continue to do this until it gets me on to the LLU.

I would like to see the rules that have been configured for traffic shaping and capping because something’s are definitely being shaped more than others.

After 5pm I can still download large files and get a download speed of around 150kb/s but anything that is streaming ie YouTube or BBC I-Player is completely unusable, these sites are some of the biggest used on the web, no wonder this topic has 128 pages!!

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

and they're the things that also eat up bandwidth - hence why Sky shapes traffic on streaming sites/apps...even SkyPlayer is hit!!

And if Sky are over capacity on LLU, and there isn't enough demand for it, you'll be on Connect until they have space...

better off moving to an LLU service that has space...

Low speeds used to be 4 nights then 3 nights not so bad now seems to be every night below 1mbs so as I have read tonight cram and if nothing happens that will surely mean big problems day and night so is Sky going to sacrifice connect or are they trying to get rid of the heavy users that could take sometimeit might work
Sparkey CS said they are placing more and more people on the line thus slowing it down and in other words they are not going to do nothing about it but jam more people on thus slowing even more so think it time to move.
