      Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

      I don't think Sky LLU has anything at all to do with Connect. Either your exchange has been unbundled by Sky and it contains their equipment or it doesn't. If your exchange has not been unbundled then you are on Connect, which is Sky's re-badged name for Bt's ADSLMax. The Sky network is certainly not over capacity, the problems being experienced by Connect is solely due to the particular exchange being oversubscribed.

      * Broadband package: Sky Connect
      * Normal Speed: 5-6mb
      * Current throttled speed: Around 350 kbps
      * Average usage per day: Quite a lot, i do like to torrent a little in the day
      * What does this throttling affect? Browsing / Gaming / Torrents. Everything, WoW is almost unplayable, and i can't even load videos on youtube.

      Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

      Hi all,

      Adding my details -

      Package: Sky Connect

      Modem: Segam
      Firmware: 1.9sky
      Downstream: 6624, Upstream: 448
      Line Attenuation - Downstream: 29.0 db, Upstream: 17.0 db
      Noise Margin - Downstream: 11.0 db, Upstream: 23.0 db

      Test 1: 08:15am
      Downstream: 6624
      Upstream: 448
      Profile: 5500
      Actual: 5083

      Test 2: 19:56pm
      Downstream: 6624
      Upstream: 448
      Profile: 5500
      Actual: 567

      Link suffers from very slow web access during the evenings with a complete inability to play World of Warcraft and other online games.
      I normally use about 30-40megs per day of downloads, this has gone up a little because of the speed testing I've been running :P
      I've done about a month and a half of phoning sky support about it with no luck (just get the usual "ticket has been closed, it's BT throttling the exchange" every time I ring them back). Bit frustrated as nobody at Sky support will give me a definitive answer as to why my link is being throttled so badly even though I'm far from excessive with the download hogging.

      Anyhow, here's hoping keeping the pressure on will get something sorted

      Hi even though Sky say 40Gbs a month you are still Traffic managed every night from 5pm till 12midnight the move you use the more Traffic Management deducts (If someone thinks I am wrong please Correct) 1.2Gbs a day try Bt Performance test if you read below and click Bt Performance test and below shows address
      the Sky user name is the MAC address off the bottom of your router with @skydsl at the end, e.g. 00234C2A4F5@skydsl
      nandoh Hi so 7:05 is your lowest to date if you keep doing that it might form a pattern the main thing is you have history when the problem was worst
      jamesy As you can see if you do the Bt performance test it always helps
      davedarave01uk The sad part is you are right gaming on connect does not work
      Eldrick I hate to say this but you are on a loser.
      Sky CST will tell you to run Bt Performance test see above this is the only thing they will take note of
      this is one from 00:15 26/03/09

      At least you have something to throw back at them when they say to do Bt tests also when they say about Traffic Management 8128kbps to 1203kbps that is not traffic managed do you agree that is throttle which is unfair to go from 8128kbps to 1203kbps that is not even a quarter of the DSL connection rate. Telephone call not informed about Traffic Management also told that you would get (what ever they said you would get) guaranteed. And yes DSL is 8128kbps the normal speed Should be 7150kbps Bt have it down as IP Profile
      (what evers not right change good luck
