Large speed decrease

Heyas, for the past 5 days I have experianced rather large speed decreases at certain times. I have noticed that the speed begins dropping around 5:00pm, and then continues to slowly drop until about 8:00pm. A few mbs dropped here or there wouldn't really concern me much at all during these times, but I'm left with roughly 200-300kb/s according to a reliable internet speed test, when usually my net scores in around 7-8mbs.

Solutions I have tried are;

Plugging my computer directly in to the hub, no difference made.
Scanning for any viruses or faults, including registries.
Resetting the hub, leaving it off from 10 seconds to 10 minutes in some cases.
Checking to see if it is firewall interference (not)

I do not have many windows open, and no downloads running at all. I have also made sure this is the case for the other 2 PCs in the house, run by my family, who are also experiancing the same lag, which rules it out to be anything to do with my pc.

I have also tried logging in to the hub, changing channels, disabling security, and checking the downstream connection which showed a healthy
DownStream Connection Speed 8128 kbps

I'm now pretty stumped on ideas, so any help would be much appreaciated.

Re: Large speed decrease

Please close all your windows and shut the curtains as your wireless signal is escaping
Seriously you are on connect which is a rebadged bt product and is subject to traffic shaping at busy times. Having said that I've not seen speeds as low as that reported.

Re: Large speed decrease

i think a BIG sticky on Connect throttling is needed, to save the numerous threads popping up for the same thing...

Re: Large speed decrease

Good idea - and an overview of the difference between low sync and low throughput (and the causes) wouldn't hurt either. If no one else writes one then I will.
