Router will not accept new connections

I have a Netgear DG834GT that I have flashed and is running firmware v1.02.16. For quite a while now, it will not accept any new connections from any other laptops but weirdly it will allow my iPhone to connect. I have tried all the normal tweaks, the laptops I have tried connecting are fresh XP builds and connect elsewhere so I know it is not the network cards (or any of their settings). This was not a real problem until my boyfriend screwed up my regular laptop (which has always connected without a problem) yesterday with a magnet (don't ask) so if this cannot be repaired, I will need a new laptop which then won't connect.

The wireless broadcast can be picked up easily (I have turned off all security so I know it should connect easily) but it gets stuck at the waiting for network dialogue then fails to connect.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I've done everything I can think of

Hard reset the router? You haven't set any mac filtering in the firmware settings have you?

Check that DHCP is turned ON in the router.

What message do you get when it fails?
