With a good line those stats should give 6-7Mb. Don't turn off the router, DLM will see it as a problem and recuce the sync speed to compensate.

How are you connected to the phone line?

The router and filter are connected directly to the master socket.

Do yu have a test socket? (remove the lower half of the master socket to reveal it) get your stats from here.

How long have you been connected to Sky BB?

DLMed as you already knew, call sky and say you have a slow connection. You may get put through to CST you may not.

Don't ring now, ring at 10:30pm you should get through to CST and they will spend a few minuted cranking up the speed, you should get 6-7mb.

Your noise margin in the test socket is much better than directly into the master 12.9- 29.2db so you may have an issue with your internal wiring, I would get a filtered faceplate to cure that.

Also remove any wires from terminal 3 on the sockets, it's not needed and can cause interference.

Keep it in the test socket when you ring Sky.

Thanks Smithy99. If disconnecting the line and router is the worst thing to do, why did Sky tell me to do just that and take 40 minutes to mention DLM? Do they just like to keep you on the line to they can earn call charges?!!

Being reduced to 1mb was bad enough, but right down to 384k because I repeatedly disconnected as advised is beyond a joke. I take it they have no obligation to restore my original speed?

Re: slow download speed, is this as good as it gets? sky says it is.

The main problem when ringing Sky is that they tend to start all over again when you ring, so you can end up doing the same tests etc. Remember that first line support are there to weed out all the silly issues, no filters, faulty routers etc and they must see 100's of these every shift and maybe get a little snow blind.

CTS have a better understanding and are able to make more important changes to your line so if you can get through to these you usually get it done quickly. Ringing after 10:30pm usually get you through to them.

As for your original speed, Sky will put it up as high as they can withot unstabilising the line, but remember that speed is all down to line distance and quality so ensure everything your side is as good as it can, connect to the test socket when you speak to them etc.
