      Pretty sure I am being capped?

      Hey guys,

      Just like to say "wow" to the amount of resources this site has to offer and thanks!

      I've been with sky broadband mid for just about a year or so and when I first received the service I was pretty happy with the ~2mb speed (Roughly 265 kb/s).
      However, I have come to notice over time that my connection is only pushing half o that...Yes...around 150 kb/sec

      I'll post some statistics for you to look at:


      My package says I should be getting 4mb but I am content with 2mb atleast...And i know it is dependant on my phoneline etc.

      Do you guys/girls see anything weird with my statistics or any sign of me being capped?

      Yes, your high noise margin would suggest your connection is capped at 1531kbps (1.5meg).

      Thanks for the speedy response. Any suggestion why? I'd grab an odd movie every two weeks or so but nothing more...Think I should give sky a call tomorrow and tell them to remove it?

      No, it won't be anything to do with your usage. Either it has been manually capped following a call to Sky about a problem or it is as a result of DLM reacting to a problem.

      With your noise margin a full 10db higher than the default, either of the above seems odd. Yes, call them (late at night is best) and go through the slow connection troubleshooting. This should end with you getting through to CST and they should adjust things for you. If all goes well expect another couple of meg.

      Just got off the phone from them. From 150 kb/s to bang on 3 mb. The tech guys are awesome. He was proper engaging in a conversation with me it was funny but awesome. +1 Sky.

      The guy also said to test my cable in the master socket and see if i can get better speeds! Will give it a shot tomorrow!! Night all and thanks.

      I've often wondered the same thing... I should be on "Max" but I've NEVER seen anything other than the 8191 as shown below....



      What do people think? Leave alone or should I get more?

      This is with an 18month old Sky DG834GT

      At best you may get another 1mb but if it is stable at the speed you have now I would leave it alone.
