Hmm well It's been around 72 hours now.. and I checked my stats..

Connection Speed 4000 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 29.0 db 20.0 db
Noise Margin 27.0 db 17.0 db

      And BT test..

      Your DSL connection rate: 4000 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 3500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 3146 kbps

But I'm still getting around 300kb/s.. it occasionally makes its way up to 400 sometimes but then drops straight back down

how come BT have capped you so heavily?? have you got something unfiltered?

looking at that speed test Sky reporting it to BT would be a waste of time as everything there is absolutely fine...if you download a file from the speed test in my sig what speed do you get? (you should see about 300KB/sec or there abouts)...

Okay something odd just happened... whenever I start a download, It starts at something like 5mb/s... then slowly decreases back to 300 everytime

Re: At the end of my teather...

that speed test result is fine for your sync speed - the problem you now have is your line capped so speed will no increase...it's why BT have done it that's the part to check...

post your sync speed from your test socket with nothing else plugged in bar a filter with the router...

I don't have a test socket, just the main one.. dont suppose that'll work to the same effect?

Trust me man you would never get a transfer rate of 5Mbps ,

For a profile of 3500Kbps if you are getting transfer rate of 300Kpbs this is ok ,

Dont for get transfer rates are not the same as speeds ,

Also all the times you done the speed tests has your profile gone up ?
If so leave it and it should go up more ,

Re: At the end of my teather...

But If i'm synching at a speed of 7616kbps surely It should be faster than what Im getting...

Also dont know if this matters, but I came across a phone extension that hadn't been filtered since I got sky, so I threw one on there and didn't make much of a difference.

Maybe because It was off for so long BT capped my profile rate?

that shows you connecting @ 4Mbps, so IP profile is correct...

however, if it's now showing 7.5Mbps then it'll take 72hrs (approx) for IP profile to adjust...

and, of course, the throttling will still happen...

      Hi Templeton1
The problem is bt have ran Rambo and throttled your line it happened to me.
Ring sky and when you get too CST ask for your line to be re-profiled or ring
customer services on 02077053000 who can get CST to ring you it will take a
little longer two to three days. The thing with Customer Services all calls are noted
and followed up. (thats the only way to sought it, Sky CST to ring bt to re-profile line)
