      Constant Disconnection.

hey guys, first off i would like to say what a great site you have here .Now for the bad part.I have had my sky Broadband over 2 years and have bee using my Netgear DG834GT v1 (white) all that time (haven't need to change) but all the sudden my Netgear DG834GT v1 starts to play up.I have been thinking on what could cause this and remembered that i recently i installed a coaxial cable running parallel with our main incoming telephone cable for approx 3 meters (9ft.) would this have any adverse effect on the performance which is creating the problem. My son uses his xbox live and noticed the problem after getting disconnected all the time. After asking the rest of the family they also noticed getting disconnected often.

      Re: Constant Disconnection.

Is it the Internet that is disconnecting or the wireless connection? If it is the latter, it could be you have neighbours who are using a new wireless router. This could interfere with your signal. Try changing the channel on the router. If you can see the Channel numbers of nearby networks, try using a different one. Channel 13 is usually a good bet.

If your phone line is a twisted pair type, rather than flat twin, I doubt if it will pick up interference from the co-ax.

I think it is the internet. as I'm using Ethernet port for my PC and so is my Son xbox but saying that,my daughter is using wireless for the Laptop.I think the cable is twisted. Also i doubt this is any help but the Orange lights comes on when i have a problem, just like when i reset the box.Is it that the box keeps resetting itself?

That is a poor connection speed, hopefully it will be better from the Test socket.

The orange light does indicate that the internet connection is dropping.

      Re: Constant Disconnection.

We need to see the router stats from the test socket, you may have an issue with internal wiring. Whislt you have the front of the master socket, remove any wire in terminal 3 you dont need it.

As well as the Test socket stats, a note of how many phone extensions you have and how your various machines are connected would also be useful.

While you have the faceplate off the Master socket, check that none of your other extensions have a dial tone.

      1 House Phone,
      1 Laptop using Wireless,
      1 Desktop using Ethernet Port,
      1 Xbox360 using Enthernet Port.

Thats what we have running on a day-to-day basis.
