Merci. Sky for a nice ride but now it's time to say Au revoir

Have just left sky after 2 years and moved to TalkTalk (so far so good - painless move).

Would have stayed with Sky has I have had no problems except for initial setting up. However recent proposed increase in cost and due to fact that I wasn't really watching the TV part (freeview is ok for me)I felt I could save money by looking elsewhere. - Shame they couldn't offer broadband and telephone package without TV part. Never mind.

My final question is this, at the moment my 'sky broadband account' is still live but once it closes on the 28th will my sky e-mail accounts continue to work (or at least through the sky portal?).

It will be a lot of hassle to change over to 'TalkTalk' e-mail. At the moment can access them through my e-mail client but what happens after the 28th?

Surely you can find a better ISP than that shower of S***E. They must rank even worse than Tiscali

i haven't tried talktalk but i dont imagine they are great. virgin broadband apart from the fact they cap you if you download too much, the fibre optic option is the best if its available in your area

50mb broadband being released for 35 if you have virgin telephone sky's generally ok if you dont if you dont have any setup issues or a line problems(or live too far from the exchange lol)

i personally never use ISP's email addresses. i have hotmail and googlemail and i will never need to change address

Why oh why did you go to Talk Talk? And yes Dholdi is right all isp's are affected if you have line issues or live too far from the exchange so it could work out that when you change over it may be worse. Not only that but Sky have a very good contention ratio when it comes to there equipment in the exchange. And.... Sky are TRUELY Unlimited!

Re: Merci. Sky for a nice ride but now it's time to say Au revoir

Considered 'Virgin' but I am literally 20yards short (stops about 12 houses away along the road !!)

As I said I went purely on price. Yes I was wary of changing but download speed as turned out about 3mb download, which is almost same as Sky.

Seems I will have to change to Yahoo / Google to stop this possibility happening again.

In general move as gone very smoothly and service for a regular user like me seems as good as Sky - maybe only time will tell guys.

Merry Christmas to you all and have a great New Year.

      Cheers

Re: Merci. Sky for a nice ride but now it's time to say Au revoir

I really didn't have a lot of choice.

      Can't get virgin 'cable'

Would have gone O2 as I have iPhone and therefore cost would have been less, but too far away from exchange, so they wouldn't provide me. - So in the end and somewhat reluctantly based purely on cost (and fact I hate BT) went the way of talktalk.

Honestly, so far so good - appreciate comments and concerns but am now saving myself about 20 valuable pounds

      Thanks Guys
Happy New Year to you all.
