It could be anything from a dry solder joint on the exchange modem to a kamikaze mouse.

Re: This is driving me insane...Please Help!

Righto, here's the update, Sky Tier 3 have ordered BT to change all of my equipment at the exchange, received a new router, formatted both PC's and looked at extensions, but don't know if any are faulty.

As it stands, I'm still syncing at 16385kbps but was saying that was only getting a throughput of about a connection equivalent to 1/2Mb

Downloads were quite consistent at 200kbps, never lower, never higher.

However, over the last couple of days, by pure chance I noticed something.

I am able to download 10 items, all at 200kbps

But never able to use the full bandwidth on one item (XP SP3) for example, when previously it would allow me to use my connection to download SP3 for example,. at 1800kbps.

Any idea what could have caused this?, faulty wiring? Router settings?

Even my new PS3 does the same and downloads at a max of 200kbps when downloading from the store.

I'm getting a similar problem, no matter how fast I synch I'm getting stuck at a max throughput of 360KB/s with multiple Usenet connections and even lower with a single download/HTTP speedtest (usually around 120KB/s).

Logged a call with Sky who are getting back to me after speaking to the CST.

All the usual checks/tests done, master socket, different router, different PC's etc. And a neighbour has recently told me he's suffering with a similar issue.

Re: This is driving me insane...Please Help!

Yeah still the same for me here Noikz.

Was syncing and receiving speeds of the full 16Mb up until the start of Dec.

Getting the equivalent of 0.8Mbps download on a single download, and as you say about 400kbps in total with multiple downloads at once.

It gets me to thinking is the throughput issue a wider problem than just me and you, though the average Sky Broadband user has probably not heard of been on the forums of this website.

Not sure about the neighbours as they seem to be out when I'm actually in from work.

Perhaps an error on Sky's network?
