Lightbulb Can BT Rip out Tiscali Equipment in order to install their line?

      Hey Guys,

I'll try and make this brief and see if anyone can impart some knowledge....

Moved into a new flat, previous tenant did a runner leaving his Tiscali account still active. Phone, broadband, the lot. Tried calling Tiscali to inform them the original tenant isn't coming back and isn't paying their "final demands".

Called BT as I need a BT line to move over my Sky BB, they've taken the 125 and I'm booked to have an engineer round on 23rd Dec to install the new equipment/get rid of Tiscali's kit (not sure whether this is done at exchange or in the building).

My question is will BT have any problems taking over the line despite it being strictly speaking a Tiscali line? Sky said it won't be a problem, any thoughts?

Cheers guys, happy christmas to all!
      Paul

I would imagine that seems as BT are quite happy to take money off you and they own the exchanges, they won't have a problem doing what they want.

Tiscali are in dispute with the previous tenant / owner and so have no beef or recourse on you and your line.

I may be wrong, but I think you should be fine.

NewsreadR, thanks very much for your response. Good to know, I think I'd convinced myself it was going to be more hassle than its panning out to be. I'd toyed with the thought that maybe an existing 'tag' on the line would cause a problem, given that it used to have Tiscali on, however am I right in thinking given that its a new line it should be fresh?

      Cheers guys

Once you have a new line, there shouldn't be any tags on it.

Snag is, it may take a few days for the line to be in a state that Sky could order broadband for you. (ie be made available in their database)

Especially with Xmas being so close, I assume they normal 5 working days will apply which could move it all into the new year.
