      Thumbs down Keep Disconnecting

      Hi all.
For the past week or so, we have been having disconnections from the internet.
There are three PC's on the network all on Vista and the globe in the right hand bottom corner disappears.
I have phoned Sky only to be hung up on twice

I then phoned back and they said the phone service was down and to call back in two hours.

Can you post your router stats, ideally from the current setup and then from the test socket (if you have one, it's behind the front of the master socket which is the first socket in the house from the outside cable).

Is everything wireless, if so it may be worth fitting one wired to check if it is the router disconnecting or the wireless signal being lost.

      Re: Keep Disconnecting

I also forgot to mention we have noise on the line, a loud crackling noise.

Noise on the line is not a good sign, how long has it been there? How many telephone sockets have you got on the line, how many sockets are in use and how many filters are in use? Have you tried changing filters on the socket with the router on it?

Its been there about a month or so.

There are two sockets in use, the one downstairs used to be the main socket. But apparently theyve changed the main one to upstairs (where the router is)

The one upstairs has a built on filter.

I've also made threads on here about a speed drop we have had.
When we first was with sky, for the first 6 months or so, we used to get around 700 - 750kbps download speeds. Now we get about 370kbps yet the extra 10 for the 16mb service.

      Re: Keep Disconnecting

If your line is no good or attenuation too high you will see very little gain from swithcing to max apart from no capping. Who changed the upstairs socket to the "main" socket and how did they do it?

I presume BT did it, im not so sure to be honest.

The socket downstairs looks like the master sockets I've seen on here, but we was told theyve changed it from the master - which is now upstairs (supposedly)

The one upstairs has a built on filter to the socket.
