Sounds more like someone has wired an extension off the main socket and then thrown an adsl faceplate onto the extension socket itself. Can you take some photos to show both sockets externally and internally? (Be careful when opening them obviously)

If you plug the telephone straight into the stest socket in the upstairs wall plate do you still get noise on the line? Have you tested on the test socket with a standard filter?

      Re: Keep Disconnecting

Ive just done a check on the phone on the upstairs socket and no noise upto now.

There must be somthing wrong though somwhere along the lines, with the disconnections and the drop in speed from what we used to recieve.

Does it disconnect when in the test socket? If you plug a standard filter into the test socket and plug into there does it still drop off?

      Re: Keep Disconnecting

It's not dropped off now for around 2 days. Although it was only last night when i had the phone plugged in downstairs, that there was crackling.

theres also the fact at our internet speed drop, theres got to be somthing wrong somewhere.
