There is only the one socket in the house. If you mean to plug the phone into the faceplate socket while the microfilter is plugged into the test socket, then that's not physically possible I'm afraid.

Get on the phone to sky man ,

      You posted
Connection Speed 622 kbps 412 kbps
Line Attenuation 63 db 20 db
Noise Margin 12 db 13 db

Make sure you are in the test socket first and have changed the filter .
The Attenuation is very high and the Snr`s are to close to each other and this could be causing the connection loss .

As for the wireless being slow check the router page and see if you can move amoung that ok ,
With a line speed of only 622Kbps you cant sure for sure its just a wireless issue .

Nope the line sounds fine, quite clear.

I can move around the router page fine, no delays at all really.

I have tried calling Sky (that's why I was using the phone just now), but gave up after 35 minutes on hold. My phone doesn't have speakerphone which makes being on hold very tedious indeed. You guys seem to be helping much better than Sky anyway, last time I called them when there was no net connection at all coming into the router, they told me to move my computer closer to the router, and refused to help further until I tried that, despite my protests that I had full signal, and that wasn't going to help when the router was not picking up a signal.

OK you have a possible line issue if the snrs increase when on the phone, Call sky after 22:00 as it should be quieter then. Explain that the speed drops when you are off the phone to the CST agent, he should be able to move things on.

Dont tell them about the wireless being slow !

If you can move from page to page on the router ok this is not a wireless issue ,

How long you had sky ?
Could be Dlm messing with your line ,
If not just tell them for snr`s are to close and that this is making the connection drop out ,
Cst can change this for you with a bit of luck .

OK I'll try calling Sky later then. I've had Sky since February this year.

Thank you both for your help so far.

Just to update you - I haven't had it fixed and ****** off

I've spent most of the weekend without a connection, spoke to Sky, and they were actually really helpful, but the issue has not been resolved. They've increased the speed my line can take, but I'm still stuck at 'painfully slow'. They've done some testing on the line and were meant to phone back last night, but I was out. Will call them tomorrow and hopefully I'll get some good news. The connection has been better since speaking to them but still far from ideal.
