Just gone live, will speeds improve??

Yesterday my Sky Max broadband was activated and I connected the router and started surfing straight away,

anyway im connected wirelessly to my router (as when i connect via ethernet it says limited or no connectivity! and i cant surf the net)

I was with bulldog internet, 8Mb and was getting a good 6Mb speed all the time.

Anyway i checked my routers page and also done the skyusers speed test and my stats are:

      Modem
      ADSL Firmware Version A2pB023o.d20h
      Modem Status Up
      DownStream Connection Speed 10888
      UpStream Connection Speed 764
      VPI 0
      VCI 38

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 272778 524985 0 0 0 12:42:58
      LAN 15 0 0 0 0 12:43:48
      WLAN 527604 274695 0 70 54 12:43:20

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 10888 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 32.0 db 16.1 db
Noise Margin 8.3 db 16.0 db

(yesterday my noise was 6. something!)
and the skyusers speed test shows my speeds as

      6072 kbps down
      602 kbps up

Since i was getting 6mb on a 8mb service before Im expecting much higher on a 16Mb line!!!!
will the stats improve after this 10 day period sky told me about? they said not to turn off the router

Please any help and advice is greatly appricated!!!!!

I have the black router, plugged into my main bt box by itself using a microfilter, and i am connected to this via wireless on my laptop

You should get 12-13 Mb. Dynamic Line Management will be training on your line for about 10 days. After this time your speed should settle down. If it is possible plug into your Test socket, which if you have one, will be behind the Master socket faceplate. This will ensure that you are getting the best speed possible. It is advised that you keep the router powered up and plugged in during the first 10 days.

You can't do much about the attenuation, it is dependant on your line length and your noise margin looks a bit low, that is why I suggest you try the Test socket.

DLM is never over, it's runs permanently, but it's active the first 10 days of connection and then monitors...if anything changes on the line then it'll readjust...

With a wired connection you stand a better chance of getting nearer your sync speed, wireless is not great.

Don't take the word of the speedtest sites either, much better to download a large file for a fast server, ie, Microsoft, that should give a better result.

      Your Snr is quite low.

I don't think dlm will allow your line to sync any higher to be honest.
