      Monthly usage question

      Hi

I'm just wondering, what happens if you go over your monthly usage limit on Sky? We currently have the basic 2MB broadband with a 2GB monthly limit. Also, how much would you have to be over the limit for them to do anything about it?

      Thanks for your help.

You will receive a letter saying your broadband has been suspended due to usage abuse. The letter will also offer you the chance to call Sky and upgrade to a package more sutiable for your downloading needs.

      Re: Monthly usage question

      From the Sky FAQ

"Do not worry if you exceed your allowance, we will not cut you off or charge you extra. If you regularly exceed your limit, we will suggest you upgrade to a product more suited to your online needs."

      Re: Monthly usage question

Ahhh right its only if your regularly go over the limit. I dont know why they are saying they dont cut you off because i get loads of calls in my department with people wanting to know why their broadband isnt working and i have to explain that an abuse issue has been marked on their account and transfer the call to somebody that can reactivate/upgrade the broadband.

How anyone can cope with 2gb downloads a month is beyond me lol, i would be over the download limit in an hour or 2 =P

I suppose that must happen if people reguarly exceed the limit and refuse to upgrade their service to Max without Sky taking action.

      Re: Monthly usage question

I have not seen any confirmed reports about users being cut off for exceeding limits, or even anyone that has had a letter saying they have. The only cut offs have been when the security of one or more PCs connected to the router has been compromised. eg turned into a 'zombie' to send spam.

      Re: Monthly usage question

only abuse issues that come through are router suspended due to not paying bills or found to be spreading a virus/spamming other users...nothing for usage...
