What happens if you break your 40gb monthly allowance.

I noticed this month that my over all sky bill has gone up by over £30 for this month. I have tried to phone customer services but there is a 30 min waiting so I will phone back when it is less busy. I have been off work six weeks due to an operation and have been logging into work form home using remote desktop most days all day. I have not purchased any films or pay events so i know it is no that.

Could the logging in from home have put me over my usage limit? What does happen if you do go over the limit?

Any ideas?

your still using a broadband connection to speak to your work place through remote desktop, so the service is still in use, im not sure on the charges though, best speaking to someone who works there. ur best speaking to your service provider regarding this. i wouldn't know unfortunately, sorry

There are no charges (or charging system in place) for going over your allowance with SkyBB.

Rather than call Sky you can log in to your account via Sky.com and view your bill. That should indicate what you are being charged for.

You will not normally be charged for overuse without receiving several warnings. If you have not received any, then it is unlikely to be due to broadband charges. Log into your MySky account and go to the Billing Centre and view your bill. This will tell you what the charges are for. Possibly phone calls if you have a phone account.

Re: What happens if you break your 40gb monthly allowance.

Yes it was phone charges, I have not had any before as I am never in during the day. Due to me being off work and working from home I have been using the phone a lot, and I am only used to using it at evening and weekends which are free.

Customer services were very good an explained how i could save money by going up to the next tariff but as I am going to be returning to work soon there is no real need as I will go back to not using the phone again during the day.

Felt a bit of a foll after...... :-)
