      Long wait since registration

I signed up on 22nd July and got an email to acknowledge this stating they would get back to me early August. On 29th August I got another email which said:

"We are working to ensure Sky Broadband is available to you as soon as possible. Naturally, demand is high, but we're doing all we can to bring Sky Broadband to you without too much delay.

We'll continue to keep you fully up to speed with our progress in your area. Simply keep an eye out for further emails

      Regards

      Samantha Beresford
      Senior Product Manager
      Sky Broadband

and since then nothing except today I get a letter in the post from Sky saying "If you've ever considered joining Sky TV, then now's the time to do so!!!! (I've been a Sky subscriber since 1996). Has anyone else had to wait so long? It is obvious to me that they are more interested in using the broadband to hook new subscribers than to deal with loyal customers, otherwise why keep advertising the BB on TV and by mailshot when they can't cope with existing demand?

      Long wait since registration

thanks, I tried to call the freephone number but it has been cut off. In August I phoned Sky to ask some questions but it was obvious the guy I spoke to didn't know anything about Usenet but didn't want to say he didn't know what I was asking him about.

They obviously have a record of my registration as they've replied twice so I didn't think I needed to register again...

Hmm - I actually called on the 1st September - and I'm being told BT are running behind.

This would make it by 4 weeks... I'll call up again on Monday morning and see if I can speak to someone who actually knows something. I have, embarassingly, been quite calm about it. Because I havent' ranted and raved they haven't offered to do anything.

Also, amusingly, the last two Fridays when I called order status I got the same, slightly tired chap on the phone, bless. I think he's the only one there...

Spoke to someone just now (yes, stupid time) and theyve now told me activation is 3rd October, and they'll send the router.

i told 'em that I'd been informed my router was sent and never sent to me, and they said 'no it wasn't.'

Ooops - someone had been telling porkies to get me off the phone a couple of weeks back!

Mind you, this guy sent an email to the suppliers while I was on the phone. Either that or he just hit the keys and grinned while I was listening...

So i may be on in a week - yay!

      Welcome to the site Bryan

You really should register again regardless, if you are talking to anyone outside TS the chances are they will know very little about what you can and cannot do on your connection but if you want to know if you can get binaries the answer is yep NP I get around 1.45MB/s.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

      Welcome to the site reech

Thats good news about you getting activated on the 3rd

I have seen a number of posts about the routers not being sent until your activated and I still don't understand why SkyBB would do that, it seems strange that they are willing to leave there customers without a connection for up to a week.

I think its time to ask them about this.

Good luck and hope it all goes well
