    Sky email password not working

      Sky email password not working

      My daughter's XP Computer with Outlook Express and Sky Broadband has stopped accepting her user name and password. Each time OE is opened the box asking for User Name and Password comes up and the absolutely correct details are rejected.
      The computer is connecting with the internet as normal.
      I have carefully checked all the settings in Tools/Accounts/Properties/and all the drop down settings and they are correct. She is using exactly the same User Name and Password which gives access to Sky's server which shows the complete record of emails which have passed through.
      I have just had the my own Mail Settings page on the Server up on my own computer, alongside her Mail Settings on another computer and the settings are all the same.
      I have also entered all the details in her name and password on my own Outlook Express and still the Password & User name come up. This to my mind eliminates any problem with the computer.
      Has anyone any idea what the problem might be please?


      Interestingly I have followed the the sticky under the heading "Login to My Sky" which makes the point about Under Pop Download, click on the radio button that says "Enable POP for all Mail" and on neither my own or hers is the radio button checked, but mine works unchecked. When I check this button and save changes, leave that page and then return to it it is still unchecked.

      Try www.sky.com/unlock. The username is the login without the @sky.com bit.

      As far as the radio button is concerned it is a bit misleading. The important bit is that it says "POP is enabled " in green, not that the button is checked.

      Thanks for your interest.

      I have been to the unlock and despite the fact that I can log into the server with the correct User Name and Password, when I go to the "Unlock" using exactly the same User Name and Password it says "User name and password do not match".

      Any other suggestions please.

      Looks like the SKY and Google versions of the password have become "mismatched". Did you daughter possibly change her password recently, and if so does the old one work.

      The only other thing you could try is the Forgotton password link and hope that gets them back in step.

      Other than that I think its a call to Sky!

      Many thanks for your suggestions. Never had this problem myself fortunately but I recall some problem over my prime user name and the one I commonly use for my emails. Quite an obscure problem and this seems just as difficult. Looks like the Sky help line is the place to go. Not easy finding the right telephone number but eventually found 08442 414141. Even some of the numbers of Sky Users Forum are incorrect.
