Is there a way to manually change the DNS order on the sky router?
I have pinged both and the response is over 75 seconds on both?

if you are running an unflashed router then no, the DNS settings are fixed from the router.
You can still change the DNS settings on your PC, if you want to use openDNS they will have a step by step walkthrough for each system type and that will override the router settings anyway.

If you have the DG834GT, you can use James' firmware to do this and much more. Be sure to read the instructions.

I have already done the sky firmware update, is this a custom one?

The CU adds functionality to the Sky firmware, removing some of the blocks which prevent custom configuration such as changing the DNS servers and enabling Telnet. It is based on the Sky firmware and is recognised as such by the automatic updates servers.
Unless you are completely confident, please do not try flashing your router. I don't think there have been any failures recorded when applying this firmware patch, but there is always a chance of failure when flashing any device. This applies especially if you do not have another router to get on the net for advice should you do have problems. If you have 'flashed' a router before, you will have no problem.
