Well that's Sky for you (although I understand why they've done it). There's nothing to stop people flashing it with the Netgear firmware - you can always revert to Sky's if you ever needed to anyway.

      Re: Netgear Router update overnight

When Sky Sent me the replacement router which turned out to be the Sagem F@st 2504, as soon as I turned it on it updated itself, although I though there was something wrong with it as the lights did not flash like they do on the V1 Router.

Don't they have a similar thing for the update of the V2 Netgear router.

Hopefully, we may have the new FW for the Netgear V2 and a decision if we can host it by Friday this week. Hopefully....

Still no auto update here, even though my router restarted (again) last night!

I hopes you gets the update boss!

      Re: Netgear Router update overnight

The new Sky Netgear firmware seems to give a much more stable connection. Previously I could synch at 3000kbps in a quiet period but as noise rose during the afternoon and evening, my synch speed would drop to about 2600kbps.

Since the new firmware, I have been on a steady 3000kbps day and night.

      Re: Netgear Router update overnight

I've returned home from a couple of days away and noticed my firmware has been updated to V2.02.44 / ADSL driver 7.03.01.66 .
Before my stats with V2.02.34 were :

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2560 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 51 db 15 db
Noise Margin 9 db 11 db

      Now they are :

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2560 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 51 db 29 db
Noise Margin 10 db 11 db

Line length is 3809m ( from line test by Openreach engineer )
Mode is ADSL2+ ( which may explain reported increase in upstream attenuation ? )
Downstream is capped at 2560k from Summer DLM trial...
I'm currently creating a 24hr noise margin plot which I'll post tomorrow morning with the plot using the previous firmware for comparison if it's of any use to anyone...
      Hopefully, no resync's/reboots tonight !

Your upstream connection speed seems to indicate that you are on G.DMT. If your NM remains high you may be able to get the cap lifted.

I'm curious to know how you can tell that I'm on G.DMT mode from the upstream speed ?
I thought Sky Max had an upstream speed of 768k regardless of mode ? ( Unless DLM is running on the connection )
I noticed my downstream attenuation went up from 48-50db to 51-53db after the Summer DLM trial.
Doesn't ADSL2+ mode use more/higher frequencies and therefore this can increase the attenuation ?
I've also checked the line using a Netgear DG834v4 recently which reported the mode as ADSL2.
I just assumed that the new Sky Firmware was now correctly reporting the upstream attenuation along
with the fixed "large number/negative" noise margin issue... ( I hope not to experience this latter issue now ! )
If the new firmware keeps the noise margin above zero at night and prevents any re-syncs that might upset
the DLM process, I'll wait and see what DLM does to my connection next year. Hopefully I might get
uncapped & get at least the 3400k I was getting with Zen Internet before I moved to Sky..!

Interesting, I've noticed posts on Skyuser where Sky Max users with upstream speeds of 768,764,765 & those that have been through DLM as high as the 790's. Does this mean those not on 764/765 are definately not on ADSL2+ mode ?
Sky quotes Max users as getting up to 768k, so I wonder why the 764/765 users are not getting the full 768 unless the speeds have been tweaked manually post DLM ?
My downstream attenuation increased after DLM ( I was on G.DMT before ) and a router that reports ADSL mode reported my connection as ADSL2+ mode recently...
