      So its either a router problem or the line?

      If i can get my hands on another router to try would rule out problem with mine? oooh lots of questions!

      Yes, preferably a Sky one as it will allow you to connect to the internet. If not, any one will do. You will not be able to connect but it should sync with the exchange provided it's basic settings are correct.

      Yea try another router to see if it syncs. If it does then it's the router then tell sky about this and they will send another out.

      If it doesn't sync then it's obviously an issue beyond the router.

      It's all set up back up in the test port and now we're getting nothing again

      Call Sky. It is the only way you are going to get anywhere. As I said earlier, they will test the line and if it is OK send you another router, if it not they will get it fixed.

      im due my magical 'within 72 hour' call tomorrow, worth chasing tonight or will pi$$ them off a bit more?

      My friend who has a sky router is away, i do have an old ntl one, would this be suitable?

      Call them back! The 'call back within 24/72hrs' is too often forgotten. When your connection is dead there should be no need to wait on a call back. That may be acceptable if it is just slow, but not when it is non-existent.
