      Recent Speed Drop

Hi ive been with Sky BB for 18 months and give or take the odd nights its been great, i can only get the connect package living slightly out of town.

Basically the last four days the speed has been diabolical, im gonna retest but i think it picks back up plenty after 11,

Am i being capped someway or is my pipe just now overcrowded?

Also not to push my luck but being on the connect package if i request my mac code and say go direct to BT will i still get the same problem being a bt rebadged package and all, in essence better the devil you know.

      Current Stats below: -

      Code:
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 17081 22133 0 507 8878 00:53:10
      LAN 10M/100M 2673 4089 0 706 154 00:53:40
      WLAN 11M/54M/130M 23259 16140 0 8483 546 00:53:33

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3520 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 57.0 db 30.5 db
Noise Margin 6.1 db 20.0 db
If it makes a diff im using a netgear DG834N and currently using DGteams firmware, the problem was the same with official fw also.

      Cheers

Yeah got a bit of deja vu reading some other recent threads before posting, so we have plenty of losers and no winners?

      Re: Recent Speed Drop

my speed drop isn't as bad as some reported, BUT it is a known issue and one I'm personally looking into...whether I actually find anything is another matter though!!

      Re: Recent Speed Drop

      *QUICK UPDATE*

Got pi$$ed off and decided to ring for my mac code today, obviously got put through to the termination (liason) team who put me straight through to tier 2.

They admitted as i thought that as its a repackaged BT product they couldnt run the tests themselves and would alleviate to tier 3 to chase up with BT and contact me within 48 hours.

Hope they sort it cos at 5 for all you can eat it would be a pain to move.

there is no tier 3, only CST (me) and at the mo we have no idea what's causing it...it won't be 48hrs...

      Re: Recent Speed Drop

Hi, i've had a similar problem. I'm on the Max package and was regularly getting 6.5 - 7.5 meg for a year or so, then all of a sudden about 6 months ago it went down to 4 meg and now its 2.5! I've been through all the CS and tests but just kept getting told over and over is "that is the maximum your line will support" but no-one could give me an answer as to why it's dropped so much.

      Any ideas anyone?

      Re: Recent Speed Drop

^ completely different situation - the OP is connect which is subject to throttling at the moment...Max (if you are on LLU) has no throttling or traffic management so your issue is going to be something else...perhaps start your own thread with details like setup and stats and someone will comment...
