      slow connection on connect - help

      Can anyone help, my connection speed dropped from 4.5meg to just over 1.5meg a few weeks ago. Using direct master socket connection, using new router (recently replaced by Sky) and I have been told that the fault has been escalated to BT but I havenít heard anything back from CST for a week. Stats below;

      Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
      Your DSL connection rate: 2720 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),
      448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
      IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
      Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1672 kbps

      If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.
      If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your ISP for assistance.

      I have noticed that the noise margin has changed on my line previously around 2db
      Any advice would be appreciated

      I would push them for a resolution and if possible get BT out to check the line, could be a simple loose connection or water in the cable.

      Have you plugged the router direct into the test socket and tried that?

      You should be syncing full whack with that attenuation. Your noise margin is too low. Try plugging into the test socket behind the master, unscrew the screws on your master socket and carefully remove the cover.

      Also leave in the test socket for a few days for the line to reprofile, as the thread header says you are on connect.
