Unhappy I upgraded to IE7 and it killed my connection ?

Windows XP Pro with Sky broadband ( the new black box ) connected with Netgear Ethernet card.

Yesterday I did a full system format and re-install XP Pro SP2.
Installed the Mcaffe and did windows updates.
      SP3 installed.
      Reboot
So far so good - everything connection and working at this point.
      New updates IE7 - reboot
Now I cannot connect to anything?

I have checked the LAN settings as per SKY (no boxes checked)

I then uninstalled IE7 (back to IE6) and it still does not work.

      Help please?

      Many thanks

Did you get the "network detected" warning from McAfee? If so you have to be careful not to just tap the enter key as it defaults to not trusting the network. You may want to reset mcafee settings to default just in case or try disabling it.
Also have you checked your device manager to make sure all drivers are installed for hardware devices?

      Thanks Paul

Tried this - still no connection.

Update - I have now done a system restore to before the update and it works again.

This time I have upgraded to SP3 and said NO to IE7!!

you're gonna have to upgrade to it at some point - the security flaws alone in IE6 should make it top of your list of upgrades...

I also thought IE7 was a compulsary update if you use windows update?

You could always go the the Microsoft Website and download it from there, and see if that makes a difference rather than use system update.

I wouldn't touch IE7 with a bargepole. Download and install Mozilla Firefox. You can get extensions for it so if you ever find a site that will only work with IE, one click and Firefox will read it.
