Flashing amber is the issue, are you on your main socket? Any extension leads in play at all?

Anything else on that socket or any other sockets in the property? Each telephone socket that has anything plugged into it must have a filter unless you are pre-filtering from your main socket.

      re: internet connections

The issue is the amber light, if that does not go green and lock you will have loads of problems. If your router is in the main socket with a filter try taking all other equipment off the line apart from the rotuer, if this makes no difference you may need to call tier 1.
