You have a router with a broadcom chip set (the 2-wire) so why not use it. I know it is against Sky T&C's, but if the issue of using a non-sky router ever came up, you could tell them why you do. By changing ISP, this seems to be taking a sledge hammer to crack a nut.
It's mainly out of principle if I'm honest, Brian. I know they couldn't care less if they lose my business, but it makes me feel better.

At least with Be, I get a SpeedTouch 585v7, I can make adjustments myself to my line, and support are quite clued up - plus the support phone number is free, and they reply to tickets usually within an hour. It just suits me better.

If I had a perfect line, no doubt I'd be on Sky. My view is that Sky are great if you don't have any problems, but a bit of a pain otherwise.

I don't know mate, but I'm sure someone will be along who does. If wireless is important then stay away from the speedtouch 585v6, it is a very good router let down by a poor aerial.

the wireless is only used for browsing/emails so tbh it's not that important but would need to be there in case...

I use wifi draft 'n' piggy-backed offa my Sky router. Two lappys on 'n' and one phone on 'g' connect OK with the connection type being completely transparent!

Why am I getting a slower speed (and inconsistent) from Sky on upto 16 meg than I was getting with BT (consistent) on upto 8 meg?
That can't be down to the modem type!

From what I see here this am, getting a different Sky modem wont change a thing!

probably the fact that doubling the speed is highlighting issues you didn't have before...

      It can. See this.

It's supposidly been fixed, although Sky don't use the latest version of Netgear's firmware (although the update that we should be getting perhaps incorporates this update).

Right! Well the only way I can be sure is to get hold of a Sky Sagem router and have a play!

You might want to re-think that. You won't be able to use it on Sky.

He will definitely be able to use it, unless its ADSL credentials have been disabled by SKY. (which is highly unlikely!).
