      True, but consider :
Would a Sky issued Black Netgear router be anything but a DG934G with V2.02.34 firmware ?
If a (firmware) updating screen appeared without user intervention, what firmware would be sent to the router if it wasn't newer than V2.02.34 ?
Would Sky be able to detect non Sky firmware, like Netgear DG834Gv3 running on the DG934G and change it back to V2.02.34 before attempting to upgrade to the latest Sky firmware ?
Does that make any sense ?
I just couldn't work out why the V2 Netgear which is AR7 based like the V1 Netgear ( and therefore may have stability issues with longer/noiser lines without the ADSL connectivity patch the V1 received in it's update ) was not given a firmware update before the Sagem. The Sagem doesn't use the AR7 chipset and is therefore less likely to suffer from this problem, is that correct ?

Okay, I'll admit it.... 'stands up' Everyone, my name is Alex and I suffer from router envy !

from what i can gather, the FW update does NOT address the SNR issue...I could be wrong though...

      Nope, I'm not an employee.

V2.02.44 This is what I have now.

      Thanks for the update.
Since you're not a Sky employee, you must be "a small sample of the public" as mentioned by IANTE in post#16 of this thread...
Have you noticed any change in your connection since the upgrade ? Increased downsync speed / reliability of connection ..etc ?
It would be nice if Sky could actually confirm what firmware .44 actually changes/fixes... I suppose all Netgear DG934 users will find out eventually..

What about NM. Is that stable or does it fluctuate downwards as the day goes on?
Mine is about 12dB during the day dropping to 0dB in the evening. Sometimes I get a connection drop-out!

The same happens with mine. The average NM being around 9-11db during the day.
Drops to a "large number" / negative NM ( -2db according to Routerstats ) and the WAN connection is lost for about a minute. This happens several times most evening/nights with the router restarting at least once in the early hours... During the day it stays connected, but the NM is bouncing all over the place, changing by up to 3db either way within minutes !!

Is this the SNRM problem that a lot of people here, and Sky themselves, denied existed?

Unfortunately, the fact that Sky denied it and weren't willing to give me a Sagem instead (and won't allow me to use my own router without breaking the T&Cs) left me with no choice but to migrate away (on Tuesday I'll be on Be). You'll notice from the thread I've linked to, though, that Sky did tell me some weeks ago that a new firmware was being rolled out for this router. It's just a shame that they weren't able to tell me what it fixed.

Incidentally, the current ADSL driver version with firmware V2.02.34 is 6.02.01.00. The ADSL driver version from the latest Netgear DG834Gv3 firmware is 7.03.01.66, so anyone who has the new Sky firmware can check that.

I've got to say, though, that I did try the Netgear firmware and didn't find that the SNRM issue was much improved.
