Re: Broadband Base activated recently, can't get any web pages..
Had a quick look this morning; seems this is where it comes in and the black wire suggests this is some kind of old master socket?

IAmNotTheEnemy/googleme; I will check the sync as I may have remembered it wrong and phone Sky if it is indeed 256 up. Thanks for the tip!
Also tried a quiet line test on the first useable box in the wiring and it was all quiet.Last edited by Futurism; 21-10-08 at 11:07 AM.

By the looks of it the feed from the pole outside (the black cable, unless there is another which enters the box through the back) has been replaced fairly recently, do you have two exchange lines?.
The three lines which lead from this box (that is not a master) lead to sockets, any one of which could be a master. So as a first step try and find the master (it may look like the other sockets, but inside will contain some components, unlike the others) and remove any wires or wire connected to "3". This is the ring wire and it's dissconnection will help your BB

Your problem is your upload.
256kbps is a regular problem on the black netgear routers.
Call sky and get through to CST they will fix it in a matter of seconds.

Apart from calling Sky, which you should do, you might find that you will have to get your wiring sorted out to get the best from your connection. You may find that you do not have a master socket. That looks like an old GPO box and if the wires coming from it are starred out to extension boxes, you will have nothing but trouble. If left in place, these boxes should only have one cable coming from them going into the master socket, you extensions being fed from that. As Brian says, the black cable feeding it looks fairly new (no paint on it
) it would be strange if BT fed a cable into a box like that and left the wiring as it was. If you do not have a Master socket feeding your extensions, maybe you should call BT and tell them your do not have a proper master socket. They should fix it foc, but they will try and sting you anyway.
