      set up help

      Hi all, after a small error with my original order for broardband mid getting cancelled i am now informed i will be up and running next week, all i want to know is do i need to use the sky set up disc as i will only be using both my computers via wireless, and also after reading some threads here i see there can be some problems with getting replacement modems should this one fail, do i need to get any settings from the modem and is this easy to do, i can find my way round a computer but bill gates i aint!!!

      You don't need to use the disk unless you want to use the AV, even then it is better to explore the disk and run it from the folder.

      Wireless is not always reliable, in any case you are better first setting the connection up with a wired connection.

      If your router breaks down, Sky will replace it. I don't know where you got the idea this is difficult. They give them out like sweets at a children's' Xmas party.

      Unfortunately yes. A new router can be sent out waaaay too easily and when the customer calls back cos it hasn't fixed the issue it's the next poor tier 1 agent that has to try and sort it again so it gets looked at properly. Must admit it's not just tier 1 sending out routers willy and indeed nilly sometimes lol
