The upstream smells like connect, you need to confirm this, as there maybe the issue that I am going through.

      Re: Horrendous loss of speed.

Your are not syncing at the maximum speed either for Connect or LLU.
To find out for sure what you are on - Go to BT Performance Tester enter your phone number then your ADSL username. This will do an official BT speed test and show your present profile. Your ADSL username is <the LAN MAC number of your router, no colons, followed by> @skydsl You can also obtain this from the router by using one of the utilities available on the forum.

The system is very busy in the evening, so it may return a system error. You have just got to keep trying or try during the day when it is quieter. If it returns an error saying that the details cannot be authenticated, this means you are on LLU.

If this does not return an error when you put your phone number in, then you are on Connect which your upload indicates.

If it does accept your number, post the full results here.

      Re: Horrendous loss of speed.

Hi everyone I have exactly the same problem. Ive been synching at anything from 4Mb to 6Mb since Ive had sky (1 week) but in peak times my sync stays the same but my download and upload speed decreases dramatically. Lowest so far is 198Kb download.

I am on Sky connect package, even though I am at the Sale exchange and asked for Mid.

I swapped over from C&W which always gave me a steady 6Mb download.

My down load speeds are intolerable during peak times, is it possible to get me off connect and on to Mid, Sky tell me all their slots are full at the exchange and they have put me on connect for the time being, is this cobblers and if it is how do i get out of this contract?

      Re: Horrendous loss of speed.

the username has to be EXACTLY as it is on the bottom of the router (no colons)...

      e.g. 001B2F4576T3@skydsl

you're the same as every other Connect customer of late, take a look through the forum and there have been about 30 or so posts the last couple of weeks about users going slow during peak times...

      Re: Horrendous loss of speed.

Okay I tried the BT performance test, and It took my number so i guess that means I am on connect afterall.

Then It asks for the code on the bottom of the router and that goes fine, but then the page after that It just gets stuck and I've left it for 2 hours with no change.

      It just stays at that.

Just a note - the last 2 days It's slowly went up to 200 KB/s... now it's crept way back down to 30.

      I'm seriously considering switching ISP's.

So would it be worth ringing BT so see if they can do anything about this?

      Re: Horrendous loss of speed.

It would be a waste of a call. BT will just refer you back to your ISP (Sky). All you can do is keep at Sky. I doubt if moving to another ISP would help, unless they had an LLU service at your exchange and could give you a connection independent of BT's ADSLMax service.

      Re: Horrendous loss of speed.

Okay, this seems to be getting better (Slowly)..

The past few days It's been back to normal... however, whenever It gets to around 6PM every evening It goes back to 30KB/s and then it's back to normal at midnight.

I know these are peak times, but It can't be hurting my connection this badly.
