      I have to go to a quiet room with no ambient noise, call quality is good though.
      This is hardly an acceptable service! If the volume is very low and you can't improve it with the handset, then your supplier should be doing something about it. Improving this could improve your broadband. Don't even mention broadband to your phone provider, just tell them the volume is so low you can hardly hear it and this is not acceptable.

      If you are on ADSL2+ as IANTE says, then moving to G.DMT may improve your connection.

      Yes absolutely, if the telephony service is unacceptable, and yours sounds (or rather does'nt sound) like it is then get on to whoever you pay your line rental to.
