      What would cause this ?

I can only seem to get about 7Mbps according to Samknows - Mapping
But my next door neighbour can get the full16Mbps. I only checked this as he can sync at around 16600 and I can sync around the 8769 kbps mark. These are both checked behind the mater socket. with the same results and the downer for me is that he maybe use the internet for about 1-2 hours tops a week .

BT don't always route lines the same way, are you both on the same exchange? Also try posting your stats from your router.

Re: What would cause this ?

you're in sync at 11Mbps so first question is are you wireless? with that attenuation, you might see a bit more if things improve in the test socket (if you have one) but tbh, what's 500KB/sec??...

Re: What would cause this ?

It's wired into port 1 of router, and makes no difference if it plugged into the test socket or the BT installed ADSL master socket.

12Mbps for that attenuation is about right, even more than to be expected...

I'm not querying the speed at all. I'n interested as to why my next door neighbour can get a connection of 16600 and I'm in the region of 9000-12000. We live in semi detatched houses and we ajoined.

Do you have any extension sockets?. If so when you remove the faceplate to use the test socket do they have a dial tone? (they should not)
