i agree. i mean before VM came in, i was happy, but as soon as they came in, turned from good to bad within a matter of weeks. and after i left, i still laughed because they offer say 20MB but people can only download around 1MB or 3MB and nothing more during the day, which is stupid.

so why pay alot for.... less? its basically fake advertising imho

      Re: Queries about faster broadband...

VM are kicking up a fuss re speedtesters, and saying that certain speedtesters cannot cope with high speed connections.

Why you ask yourself? It could be possibly that a 20mb reported / sold speed is not actually showing the expected result?

Well, I know for a fact our broadband speedtester is capable of, and up to 30mb, no issues, also TBB have also affirmed theirs is built to cope with high speeds as well.... But the results would affirm different, VM maybe the fastest recorded on ours, but 11.3mb from a theoretical 20mb is nothing to shout about.

yeh. but i know alot of people that say because of this capping.... they pay 30 quid or more a month... expect to get 20MB or more... but actually get downloads of up to 1MB or slightly more, but never more than 5MB/s

anyway, enough about them - we are with sky, moved there for a reason....

just hope sky invest in fibre broadband or something.... quickly. otherwise it kinda is monopoly with the cable company....

It cannot be a monopoly from the bearded one. Only 4 million customers. Sky will be there at the same level in a couple of years!

Seriously, for those who don't have issues, Sky is superb. If Sky could just resolve their perceived poor T1 liaisons, they would wipe the floor with everyone else.

I think you will find that Sky will invest heavily, in a better more up-to-date network than any other ISP. I would be willing to bet they partner with BT in the future

ive never had problems with the sky tech support. ive only ever rang them 3 times in the past year.... and once after the whole upgrade thing they did which capped the speed but we fixed that and they increased the speed to 14MB on mine so im happy

i do think vm are being monopolists to be honest - no one else has fibre and if you go with them, you are capped all the time

      Re: Queries about faster broadband...

Luckily, I have never rang Sky re my broadband, as I have never really had any issues. But reading on here, a lot of people do. This is where I draw my conclusions from.

I have had more issues with my TV and other things than the broadband side of it. But we already know, Sky have mastered the TV side of things.

Don't get me wrong Sky do still annoy me, but more on the 'bury their head in the sand' type of things, or the hope that things will rectify themselves, type mentality.

If you have no issues, then Sky BB is superb, if you do, then its getting them sorted quickly, which is the biggest gripe by far.

i think in time and if we speak up more and give them feedback, everything will be better for sure.

now just for investing in fibre optics...or something faster than that

UK are way behind in broadband compared to europe, and the US

I would assume that Sky take an active part in reading the feedback on here, and then would hopefully respond to the issues raised.

In the past 30 days, Sky have spent in reality, 2465 minutes (or 41.8 man hours) reading our forums

Google Analytics is a great tool.
