However I would have thought you would be able to sync around the 5000kbps mark on ADSL2+, but you seem to be on ADSL2? Could you check that in the stats to make sure it doesn't say ADSL2+?
like i said before, we used to download at around 750kbps, but it somtimes would go up to 800kbps.

Im just wondering why it has changed.

Really depends where you were downloading from. But 3mb sounds about right for your attenuation.

well, unless your phone line has doubled in length then you can't have physically got those speeds...

do you have a test socket you can try?

Unless your line is really new as in only been put in place in the past few years then yes maybe you could of got those speeds.

Could of been a line fault or water contact or something like that that has caused the decrease in speeds and increase in attenuation...

Were you getting a connection speed to the router of 8Mb or downloads off torrents at 8Mb?

Well o.k, I'll buy it. If we assume your attenuation has increased by at least 15dB then if this is a line fault there must be some noise on the line when you use the phone.
Have you tried dialing a single digit to kill the dial tone, you should hear nothing but a low hiss, no crackle or anything else.
