Red face Stuck with speed and need advice

      Hey guys,

I have had Sky BB Max for a good while now and never really bothered with the Speed of my conection but it has seemed to get slower (i know that the upload speed used to be the full given for Max) so I started checking things out. I have been through many of the posts here and I have checked the speed of the master socket, Which is where my router is plugged in, and the test socket behind.

As a consequence I have checked the wiring and altered it as advised and how my sky boxes are attached to the phone sockets, so now they are on the right side of the filters.

My router currently syncs at a consistent 3072kbs. The stats that I collected today after altering everything - it's taken a couple of days as my toddler likes to check I'm doing a good job, are:

      For the test socket:

Channel: FAST, Upstream rate = 412 Kbps, Downstream rate = 3072 Kbps
      Link Power State: L0
      Mode: ADSL2+
      Channel: Fast
      Trellis: U:ON /D:ON
      Line Status: No Defect
      Training Status: Showtime
      Down Up
      SNR (dB): 15.4 24.5
      Attn(dB): 38.0 22.4
      Pwr(dBm): 24.5 9.3
      Max(Kbps): 8552 516
      Rate (Kbps): 3072 412

      and for the master socket:

      Down Up
      SNR (dB): 16.0 22.5
      Attn(dB): 38.5 22.0
      Pwr(dBm): 0.7 8.1
      Max(Kbps): 9112 516
      Rate (Kbps): 3072 412

I dont think my line is particularly noisy (listened to it?)Any help would be appreciated as I'm not sure what to do next.

      Thanks
      Andrew

Re: Stuck with speed and need advice

      Your connection has been capped.

You hint that you had earlier connection problems. As a result of these, either through contact with Sky or possibly DLM your connection has been capped to counter the problem.

Your stats now show that your connection is fine so you need to call Sky to get uncapped. Tell T1 that you had earlier connection problems but they are now resolved so you want to be put through to CST.

You appear to be capped. Phone Sky and ask them to remove the cap as you have made improvements to the wiring and it is not now necessary. Your upload is also low so you might want to mention this when you call.

      Thanks for that guys.

I rang up and they were really helpful. Confirmed I was capped and then tested the line and changed the speed. It's come in stable at 7.5meg so much happier.

Thanks again and for all the information already on here that got me here.
