I was using Limewire today (p2p file sharing util) and it reported my connection as being behind a firewall even though I have the windows xp firewall turned off and my own personal firewall also switched off!
Are Sky using a firewall and if so can it be turned off?

I don't think Sky are using any kind of blocking type thing on P2P. I can use Limewire without problems. Login to your router and click on "Firewall Rules" and take a look about the settings. I'm using Norton's firewall as I think it's easier to use than the router firewall and therefore my firewall settings within the router aren't properly configured. See Image Below!
These settings may not be right for you and they might not even be right for me but if they are different then it could be what is giving you the problems. Let us know what you find and someone else who knows more about the router firewall should be able to help you more than I can.

Settings are exactly the same as yours on the router but limewire is still reporting a firewall.....Strange.

Have a look at the site Saturday posted and see if that is any help to you.

Because, if you look at the settings, you'll see that the router firewall is set to block all inbound connections.
I posted a link - did you look at it?

if upnp is on in your router,
in limewire just tick the upnp box, worked for me, just tested it now.

UPnP seems "broken" on this router. There are several posts on the forum where users are finding that with UPnP enabled, connections get flakey.
My own experience is that my connection is stable with UPnP off and isn't with it on.
