      Connection Drops When Near Router!

Well I was having a minor problem of the whole of the connection going dead every evening about 9:45PM, for less than a min then reconnecting.
Now There is no other problems since I was told to test the router in the 'Test Socket' behind the Master Socket.

Now The connection is not dependable.

When I'm in my room (in the attic) this is the Speed Test.net results I recieve:

When I go into the room with the router I do not pick up the full 5 bar signal and I receive these results in the Speed Test.net test:

I have NEVER recieved such a poor connection!

I have also discovered that only my Vista laptop will connect to the router now and my 360. The two desktops (both running XP) will not connect. I have changed the WPA key (default encryption) to WEP but it still will not work

      UPDATE:

Even if the router has NO encryption on the two machines with XP can't connect!
Just continuously says "Waiting for the Network"

LOL - you don't have superpowers as well do you? Looks like you're pretty good at interfering with a wireless signal.

Try changing wireless channels. Start at 13 and work down. See which one is best. Also, move the router to somewhere where you're not physically blocking the signal.

But it's worked fine on channel 6 for ages :S

I have tried changing to various channels...no luck!

Are you using the Sky router for wireless?

I had a Belkin wireless router (not ADSL) on a Virgin cable connection and one PC would NOT log on wirelessly, whatever I did. All my laptops worked fine (sounds smug, but I don't get rid of old ones and used them to test ). In the end, I found that the Belkin was set to a g-Turbo mode. When I switched this off, the PC connected flawlessly.

      Regards,

      Felix

Seems it has increased now, will probably go down soon. Still no luck on getting the XP machines connected!

You need to plug into the test socket and connect via ethernet for a true connection speed or look at the router settings page for your download speed settings. THe wireless issue is just that.. a wireless issue. Can you see other networks in your area? Is there anything near the router itself (cordless phone base, radiator etc) as we found one persons wireless dropped everynight and when he checked it was his heating pump kicking in.

Mmm this NEVER happens though, until yesterday!
I also changed channels. I am currently using 09.

Someone near you may have gone wireless recently.
