      Smile Another Speed Thread

      Hi people,

New here and just thought I would ask the question. When I was on my normal 8Mb service I was connected at 7,500 ish all the time. Now I have moved to sky MAX LLU product I am currently connect at 9,668. Can anyone tell me if I should expect any more and if it is worth a LONG wait to talk to sky tech, if they can do anything?? Below are my stats this morning. After a reboot as the router locked (lovely).

Connection Speed 9668 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 42.5 db 26.0 db
Noise Margin 7.2 db 11.5 db

I think you're connecting at close to the best you could expect with a attenuation of 42.5.

You may find that fitting a filtered faceplate (if you haven't got one already) gives you a meg or so boost.

      Welcome to the site wcavanagh

When did you have the BT faceplate fitted?

If its quite old then you should really be considering getting a newer one as technology has moved on quite a bit now and it may not be as good as the newer ones.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

Its very old, I was one of the 1st people to have BT BB when it was first brought out, so maybe a new plate would be a good idea?

Can't hurt but with an attenuation of 42.5, don't expect miracles.

If you had it when BB first came out then it was an engineer install just as mine was because in those days there was no other choice.
