Poor joint somwhere. When the Openreach tech arrives get him/her to use their mole, this will find poor joints with great accuracy. They are very keen on a saucer of milk with some bread in it, or they just go to sleep.

Well the BT Tech has been , looked at my wiring said the problem was not inside my house. As Brian69said i asked him to use his "mole" i got a blank expression , he told me noisy lines are a pain to find and that he could not do much more . He looked outside my house on the wall where the phone line comes in from a grey box and then on the pavement , took a load of wires out cut a few here and there put his test phone on shoved wires back in and left without saying a word .

Braodband engineer can do more with their laptop he said . Not sure if he's gone to do anything else , i'll probably just get a call from sky saing no fault found

      Re: Sky have done something

If the line still has a problem (give it a couple of days) then you now face the uphill struggle to get Sky to get a BB openreach tech to you (to be fair to Sky,all ISP's are reluctant to do this because of the cost).
You will now have to go through replacement routers, and capped speeds, before Sky will do this. Best of luck!

Hmmm , tbh if thats the way to go now , being as i'm still within 8days cooling off i might as well cancel BB move line back to BT and start all over again.

      Re: Sky have done something

So Openreach saw noise, the engineer couldn't find it .... I'm guessing ticket now closed and Openreach will deny there being a problem with the line (even though they saw noise on it lol).
This is where it gets funny, if you tell BB tech you had an issue on your line and openreach came out they will refer you to sky talk or whoever you pay your line rental to. If the skytalk agent sees that Openreach are now saying no fault found they will send you back to BB tech.
If you are still within cooling off I would start making noises at cancellations, they have a lot more "clout" when it comes to forcing things to be done.
