Thanks for the info. Guess I need to be a little more patient.
It's very frustrating though, having spent many years on a fixed 1meg connection, to move to 'up to 8 meg' and see no benefit. I've spent a lot of time and effort getting things right, fitting faceplates, moving cables and router, only to see the speedtest zoom up to 995kbps and stop.
When I see people on here moaning that they 'only' get 13meg or so it makes me want to cry
If things stay as they are after the 10 days, is there anything myself/Sky can do? Is there any light at the end of the tunnel?

      Re: Connect

If the sync speed stays low for the attenuation then it's either a home wiring issue (your problem) or a BT line issue (ultimately a BT problem but Sky need to initiate an investigation).

If the sync is OK but the throughput is low then its either a PC/wireless issue (your problem) or a "stuck BRAS profile" (ultimately a BT problem but Sky need to initiate an investigation).

I know it must be frustrating but 99% of the time things are OK after the training period has finished. Just make sure your sync is as high as possible and stays that way during training.

      Re: Connect

Well, after 3 phone calls to T1 (the first 2 cut me off), i've had a ticket raised and am expecting a call back within 48hrs.
My sync rate hasn't increased and my throughput is still <1meg (checked on the BT site and my profile is stuck at 1meg.)
I'm assuming that CST will be able to alter the profile, but will they be able to increase the sync rate?
AFAIK there are no problems my end, I connect to an adsl faceplate.
Assuming there aren't any problems with the line, what sync rate should I be expecting?

Connection Speed 2400 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 54 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 11 db 20 db

      Thanks

      Re: Connect

I know it's probably not connected, but I seem to be getting around 10% packet loss according to Dan Elwells speed test, something I didnt get with my previous ISP

      Re: Connect

The CST can only liaise with BT who are ultimately responsible for the service. Unfortunately they can do nothing direct about it, this is one of the big disadvantages of the Connect service. It can take 2-3 days before anything will be done. Sky and BT do not seem to work together very well.

Are you on the 5 deal, with an early chance of moving to LLU? If you are paying the full 17, then I am afraid you have made a bad move.

      Re: Connect

No LLU on my exchange for the forseeable future, I did get a good deal with sky though so cost is not an issue.
Also, I've been on a 1mb connection for years so I'm used to the speed.
I guess I'd just built my hopes up a little too much, How sad is that!
Looks like I'll have to wait a little longer before I reach the promised land of 2mb.

      Praise the Lord!!!!!
You guys just dont understand LOL

Well it seems like someone at Sky has flicked the switch and my BB is now free!
So now I have a taste for speed, do I ring them up and ask for more? My sync is still 'low' and I think it is capable of more. Can anybody give me some realistic figures to aim for.
Thanks for all your help so far, it might not mean much to you but it does to me!

p.s. still getting a lot of packet loss

      Re: Connect

I would expect around 3meg sync on a 54dB attenuation.

Could you post your stats as they are now?
      Regards

      Re: Connect

You could get more speed out of that as the SNR is fine.

You could try resyncing early in the morning when there is less noise around and that would then sync higher.
