    Connected this morning but

    This is a discussion on Connected this morning but within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; No speed increase apart from upload speed 768 = Max thats good , but downstream has no gain at all ...

      Connected this morning but

      No speed increase apart from upload speed 768 = Max thats good , but downstream has no gain at all .

      Do sky use DLM for new connections , all my wiring is fine no problems there .

      Stats below

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 4448 kbps 768 kbps
      Line Attenuation 53 db 15.5 db
      Noise Margin 7 db 12 db

      no they don't - they WILL, but not yet...

      as for downstream, it's about right for your attenuation...

      I think those of us with high attenuation (mine is 47dB) are the ones that don't benefit from ADSL2+ so much. I used to get ~4.5Mb sync on IPStream Max at 9dB, and get around 5Mb on ADSL2+ (with an apparent target SNRM of 7dB, though if you have a Netgear, you'd never actually know what's going on with the SNRM! ).

      hhmmm only asking as when i was with BE* i was holding a sync of 6.7mb with 6-7 snr ..

      And equipment in use at the exchange and software in use on that equipment etc.

      True...

      Or, quite possibly, the line has deteriorated since the Be* days, or there's a new noise source. So many variables.

      See if you can get any improvement from the Test socket, if you are not using a filtered faceplate. With Be you would be on ADSL2+ which Sky don't use on long lines.

      hhmmm i was told MAX is ADSL2+ ! , if this is the case have i been miss sold a product and if i'm not on ADSL2+ can i be moved to this .

      Can i use my old Speedtouch 585v6 to find out ?
