I need to move closer to the exchange!

Seriously, though, it would explain why my Netgear is all over the place, the same as what I experienced in the past (because I've always been on G.DMT).

There is a school of throught that says that everyone should be on ADSL2 (and maybe ADSL2+) irrespective of line conditions because ,in theory, is should provide for better stablity, and I think Sky uesd this approach during their DLM trial, with mixed results (to put it politely!!)
How they will do it when it's rolled out to all of us is anyones guess.
      Bang the 2-wire back on.

I think your figures confirm what has been mentioned elsewhere, BE's exchange equipment is far superior to Sky's and can handle poor lines much better. I suppose it is a case of 'you get what you pay for'.

I notice you are from Milton Keynes, you would not be on one of the infamous aluminium lines are you? If you are not happy you should register your discontent by phoning Sky. This will give you something to refer to if you do decide to leave.
