      Connection dropouts?

My line for the past couple of days is constantly disconnecting, mostly at night, for the past 2 days or so. Weirdly enough my phone line has started crackling in this time, but when the net is up, the line is perfect, but phone is always crackling, BT said my line test comes back perfect, any ideas?

If the line is crackling on my phone then surely it cant be sky fault, or is the crackling not even linked to my dropouts? could it be the change in weather outside?

      Re: Connection dropouts?

It's highly likely the drop outs are related to the crackling if it has just started happening. BT's line test is pretty basic I think and rarely finds noisey line faults. i.e. if you can make voicecalls then it is deemed to be ok. You will probably need an engineer out to find a fault like your. BTW plug into your test socket behind the main socket face plate, just to rule out any internal problems. If an engineer comes out and the problem is in your house then they are likely to charge you.

Also can I ask, could the weather affect this? It was a bit rough here last night, nothing too bad, but still....very wet and windy.....and my landline was crackling, today its clear as a bell both on the line and in the sky lol

yes weather can affect this - although your SNR indicates a capped connection...

      Re: Connection dropouts?

I had a lot of issues with my connection before, and they capped it to make it stable they said, and its been perfect for months and months like this, so I doont think being capped could suddenly cause havoc for one day? everything fine today......touch wood of course, whats the constant download speed? and whats SNR stand for

Your downstream of 4096 which didn't change between your two sets of stats.

      Re: Connection dropouts?

I think the weather would be the main cause of your recent problems. We all know that electricity and water don't mix, so any exposed joints could have been very wet and not performed too well.

If you are happy with your connection, that's good, but it does look like it could carry a bit more speed. Don't worry though, DLM is set to run shortly, so that should configure your connection to it's best speed.
